Kickstarter 万年筆「Visionnaire」の続報

以前、息子の出生届へのサインをきっかけに万年筆を作成することを決めたプロジェクトの紹介をしましたが、微妙にコメントがザラザラしているので紹介します。

要約すると、コメント欄がざらざらしているのは「話が違う」ため。
出資者のひとりのコメントが（長文ながらも）よくまとまっているので引用します。

1) I still suggest you to delete or modify the “Handcrafted iridium German precision nib (round medium nib)” part, in particular you should take the “Handcrafted” and “German” out and change the iridium references.
There is no way the nib could be handcrafted (can you bend steel? Can you bend iridium?).
There is no way, the nib could be of iridium (it is only the point, not the nib , thus saying Iridium-alloy point is correct).
The nib is unlikely to be German. IPG label doesn’t indicate the place of manufacture, it only indicates the source on the ball at the tip of the nib. I think the assessment of Mrs. Reemtsma of Bock was indicative enough.
Don’t create potential problems for Visionnaire future now.
Pen is Chinese, nib is Chinese. Just say it – it won’t really change anything, as it is quite clear already.

要約すると、「ドイツ製でもなければペン先を”手作り”はありえないので、説明文から削除しなさい。ペンは中国製、ペン先も中国製と書くだけでよい。」ということになります。

2) Please look into 20/25 years issue, while talking about your manufactorer. Indeed 25 is more, then 20, but still i’d suggest to remain consistent in statements.

20年と書いたり25年と書いたり一貫性がないので統一した方がよい。

3) Re-fillable converter and cartridges compatible with any ink color & most popular brands
Delete cartridges there.
I can name you a number of cartridges created by most popular brands (Parker, Lamy), that won’t work with your pen. Just don’t mislead people (better just put the name of thecartridge type, your pen is compatible with – it is most likely either international long or international short).

“有名処なブランドのインクをコンバータやカートリッジで使うことができる。”という説明文から「カートリッジ」の文字を削除しなさい。あなたが挙げたParkerやLamyはVisionnaireでは使うことができません。ヨーロッパ規格に対応のはずです。（※注釈：ParkerやLamyはヨーロッパ規格ではありません）

4) Eco-friendly re-fillable converter (can also use cartridges)
Delete Eco-friendly here (or expand the environment friendly with nicer but not standard specific words). Eco-friendly basically refers to a standard, the one your converter doesn’t have (it’s plastic after all).

5) Now, regarding the quality and quality control.
Well, let’s be honest (most of the backers won’t read this anyhow, especially after 1-4).
Do you really believe yourself, that only the fact, that the (unknown) factory is producing fountain pens for 20 years will be enough to ensure proper QC?

Hero is considered to be the best fountain pen company in China. Hero has more, then 80 years of experience with fountain pens, and they are subcontracted by Parker to create their lower level pens (Jotter, IM)
Their Hero 308 model is among their own expensive frontrunners.
Two Hero 308 coming from the same batch and the same box could significantly differ in quality.
There is a high risk of having a large number of defect pens being send to you.
We both know, that you don’t have skills and knowledge to do the QC yourself.
This is something to be looked into and planned before signing the contract.
It has to be very well defined in the contract, so that you could protect yourself in the future, once the company send the product to you and tells you, that it met their “internal standards”. Factory standards could be quite vague, especially if they and not you define them.
Thus someone with the proper knowledge of the process has to help/consult you here.
Seek professional help for the contract, and seek professional help for in house QC , before sending them to the backers.
This is currently your most weak point, and you need to look, how to prevent/minimize potential damage there (given, that you offer lifetime warranty, this is your damage we are talking about).
With proper planing, backers won’t see the crappy pens, won’t have to send them back for exchange and you’ll minimize negative reviews after pens reach the professional reviewers.

Hero 308は彼ら独自のブランドで高級品としてラインナップされている。
２本のHero 308を注文すると、一度に送られてくるにも関わらず、その品質には大きな差がある。
大量発注した時には、欠陥品が大量に届くリスクがとても高い。
私たちはあなたに技術がないことも、品質管理のノウハウがないことも知っている。
今語っていることのいくつかは、契約書にサインをする前に考えておくべきことである。
会社は”社内基準”とあなたに言い放ち、あなたに製品を送付するが、あなたはあなた自身の将来を守るために、しっかりと契約書を定義しておかなくてはいけない。あなたが契約書をしっかりと定義しないと、工場の基準は非常に曖昧なものになってしまう。
よって、しっかりと発注の知識を持った人が、ここであなたを支援するか、または相談に乗った方がよい。
商品を支援者たちに送る前に、契約の専門家を探す、社内QC（品質管理）の専門家を探しなさい。
これがあなたの現在の一番の弱点であり、いかにして潜在的被害を防ぐ、或いは最小に抑えるかというためには必読です。（こうやって話していることも、あなたが生涯保証を提示したことも含めて。）
きちんと計画を進めてください。支援者は安っぽいペンを見たいわけではなく、交換のために送り返したいわけでもありません。そして、あなたもプロの批評家たちにペンが届いた後に書かれるネガティブなレビューを最小限にすることができます。

6) Last but not list – do go through that list of 15 questions i’ve posted before, go through technical issues. I understand, that you don’t know the answers, so question your manufacturer. I don’t believe, they won’t answer your questions – most of them is a simple knowledge wholesale manager would know or would be able to clarify easily. If they become shady in their answers, this is a warning shot for you.

Don’t be afraid, just sit, spend half an hour to compose an email to China, and another 30 minutes to create an update/or just update FAQ here after you get answers from them (you could have done it long time ago already). This will help heavily your project.
Update 7 didn’t look good, but you repeatedly avoiding specific technical issues looks much worse.

この人、以前にも15個の質問を投げたようです。企画者に「答えられないのはわかってるから、あなたの発注先に投げなさい」とアドバイスをしています。いい人だなぁ。代わりに質問状を作ってやったという感じでしょうかね。若干、高圧的。

ともかく当初の高い理想に対して、現実は中国製であることにざわ・・・ざわ・・・がコメントで広がっている様子が見て取れます。また、企画者もちまちまと説明文を修正しつつも、ともかく進行する所存のようです。大丈夫かなｗ

なんというか、息子の出生届を書くにふさわしいペンに（せめて）仕上がるとよいなと思います。
